What to expect at 23 weeks?
Size, Position, & Movement
Baby is about the size of a chinchilla! About 11-12 inches long (head to toe) and a whopping pound!
This kiddo is still SUPER active. Some of those little kicks hurt too. He turns all around but I’m pretty sure he is still breech. Lots of time for him to turn. It’s totally normal for babies to sit breech up until the early 30 weeks.
Still dealing with tailbone pain. Man, my butt hurts. Getting up from a chair is the worse! I’m still seeing a chiropractor every week but I think I’m going to start going twice a week. If you are dealing with this symptom, try using an exercise ball in place of a chair, a heating pad, yoga, walking, standing vs. sitting, or a pillow in your chair.
Heartburn – I feel like a freaking dragon. It goes out of nowhere and doesn’t seem to happen after eating any specific food, which is weird. This stuff from healthy mama is fantastic. It works within minutes. Old wives tales say that if you have heartburn that baby is growing hair!
Pain- My everything hurts. Well, specifically, my back and feet. My back is starting to get sore and my feet are starting to hurt on the tops. Nice warm baths help a lot! Add a little oil to ensure your skin doesn’t get dry, a little salt soak for sore body parts, and a few drops of essential oil like lavender oil for relaxation.
Swelling – My feet are also starting to swell towards the end of the day. You too? Try putting your feet up, don’t sit or stand for too long, drink lots of water, and try to get some light exercise before you feel the uncomfortableness of the swelling.
Braxton Hicks Contractions – Lots of braxton hicks contractions throughout the day. They feel like my belly tightening for about 30 seconds or so and then they go away. These are totally normal, they prepare your body for labor. But if you feel like they are coming at timed intervals or getting worse. Call your doctor or midwife.
We are still trying to cut down on spending and save up money for maternity leave. Check out my post on saving for maternity leave if you are struggling to figure out how to plan and save.
Sophie and Mike help me put baby’s dresser together today. It turned out wonderful.
The final product!
I also bought some adorable wall art for his room! Are you sensing a theme?
I think we have a name picked out! Stay tuned for a reveal.
That’s it for 23 weeks pregnant!
