I’m so happy you are here!
Hi friends, I’m Katie!
Domesticated Mess is my little piece of the internet to share my experiences in pregnancy, raising babies, marriage, keeping my household from falling apart, and all things DIY. My blog title describes my personality and life perfectly. My family and friends joke that I’ve become quite domesticated since meeting my husband, which is true. But, I still embrace my hot mess side.
Like most moms, I feel like I should always be doing more with my kids while simultaneously keeping up with the laundry, cooking healthy meals, kicking ass at work, going to the gym, etc. Here you will find my tips to getting all (or most) of that done while also getting some great advice that you can use to make this crazy and hectic life a little more fun.
A little about me
I’m a wife to Mike and mom to Sophia and our second baby due in October. We live in the suburbs of busy Washington D.C. In our love story, first came baby, then came marriage (Oops!)
Mike and I met through the exciting world of online dating. Fun fact: our first date was at a coffee-house. I showed up late and he made me buy my own coffee. It didn’t get off to a great start but after our first kiss, I knew it was something special.
In 2014 our family grew by two feet. Pregnancy and childbirth were incredible adventures for me. I discovered the world of out-of-hospital birthing and we welcomed Sophia into the world after a super fast 5 hour labor at a local birth center. –Ever since my first pregnancy, I’ve been a huge advocate for informed childbirth and I love to talk about the subject. —
Raising Sophia has been my greatest adventure; full of ups and downs that have given me my most treasured memories. She is such a firecracker and most definitely my little clone.
Our next adventure is in the works. I’m about halfway through my second pregnancy. I’m nervous to make the leap from one to two kids. Stick around and watch the madness ensue!
In true “about me” fashion, here are some fun facts:
I love to bake, cakes are my specialty
I’ve lived in 32 different homes in my life
Since becoming a mother, sappy commercials with kids/babies make me cry
I haven’t always loved DIY/crafts. It only became a passion about 5 years ago
I love to travel. Greece is at the top of my places to visit
I love Broadway shows. Wicked brought me to tears.
I used to ride motorcycles.
